This is the question many historians ask. The reason Germany lost WW2 was because of America's and Russia's military strength. Why did Hitler declare war with the 2 superpowers? Hitler declared war on America because his ally, Japan, attacked Pearl Harbor. I really think there was no good reason for Hitler to declare war with the U.S. Just because his ally attacked us did not mean he had to. Hitler declared war on Russia for a different reason. Hitler's hate for communists was so great, that he attacked Russia with no hesitation. Many people do not know that before Hitler declared war on Russia, Josef Stalin and Hitler were 'friends'. At least, that's what Stalin thought. They signed a contract that divided Poland between the Nazi's and the Russians. In return, Germany demanded that Russia would not attack the Nazi territories. Hitler broke that contract only a few years later. You can bet that Stalin was pissed. Hitler hated Stalin so bad, some historians believe that he attacked Stalingrad (Russian city) just because it had the word 'Stalin' in it. What if Hitler never broke the contract? What if Hitler never declared war on America? Hitler could have taken over most of Europe if he left the superpowers alone. Then, after a few years of peace with most of Europe under control, the Nazi scientists could have created their own nuclear bomb. A lot of people do not know how close the Nazi's were at finishing a Nuke. With that Nuke in his hands, Hitler then could have declared war with Russia. The Nazi's would probably not attack America because we had our own Nuclear bombs. Then Germany and America would probably have a cold war with each other. Some do not realize how our modern society could have drastically changed if some small tweeks were made in History.
